1. A bio that is far too long
Why it is a problem
An endless bio gives the impression that you did not sort out what truly matters. The internet is not a press kit: visitors scroll fast, skip fast and lose interest fast.
Result: most people stop reading before the end… and remember nothing.
Typical example
“I started playing guitar at the age of 8… then I discovered metal after a concert… then I joined a band… then another one… then I won a music contest in 2013…”
→ The reader checks out by the third line.
The right approach
✔ Focus on the present, your current universe and your artistic direction.
✔ Keep only one short passage about your roots, and only if it supports your musical identity.
Ideal structure:
-
One identity sentence (who you are)
-
One sentence about your universe / style / influences
-
One “current news” sentence (EP, concerts, projects)
Optimized example:
“Instinctive electro-pop infused with French poetry, [Name] explores an intimate and luminous universe. Inspired by Stromae and London Grammar, the project blends electronic textures with haunting vocals. Their next EP ‘…’ will be released this spring.”
